什么是 tmux？
tmux is a terminal multiplexer: it runs several terminal sessions inside one window, and keeps them alive after you disconnect. Start work in a session, detach, log back in later from any machine, and everything is exactly where you left it.
It is the standard tool for long-running work on remote servers — builds, logs, deploys, anything you do not want killed by a dropped SSH connection.
Windows and panes split one terminal into many. You talk to tmux through the prefix key, Ctrl+b by default: press it, release, then press the key for the command you want.

What is tmux used for?
Running multiple terminal sessions in one window and keeping them running across disconnects — most commonly on remote servers over SSH.
What is the prefix key?
Ctrl+b by default. Press it, release it, then press the key for the command — for example Ctrl+b d to detach the current session.
Do sessions survive an SSH disconnect?
Yes, that is the point. A detached session keeps running until the machine reboots or you kill it. Reattach later with tmux a.
Do I need to install tmux?
Often not — many Linux servers ship it already. Otherwise use your package manager: apt install tmux, brew install tmux on macOS, pkg install tmux on FreeBSD.
Where do I put my config?
~/.tmux.conf. After editing it, reload with Ctrl+b : then source-file ~/.tmux.conf, or restart the server with tmux kill-server.
